Are you planning on going to Convention this year? Whether this is your first time or you are a seasoned delegate, there is always a myriad of events on the docket that can make scheduling your convention weekend a little overwhelming. Not to worry, the Fem Dems are here to help! Previously, we published a convention field guide, including a free printable checklist of essential things to do and bring.  We are also co-hosted a Dem Convention 101 panel with our brothers and sisters at Latinx Young Dems of Sacramento and other local young democrat clubs.  In addition to these resources, here are some upcoming events outside of the traditional caucus and committee schedules we have found*:

FRIDAY

  • 6pm: CYD API Caucus Mixer (Ambrosia Café, K Street)

  • 6:30pm: Courage Campaign Happy Hour (Citizen Hotel)

    • Join the Courage Campaign and meet other progressives from across the state over free drinks, appetizers, and music!

  • 7pm: Nasty Women and Bad Hombres Hospitality Suite (Cafeteria 15L)

    • Join our friends at Planned Parenthood as they honor Senate Pro Tem Kevin de Leon and retiring Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California CEO, Kathy Kneer!

  • 9pm: 2017 CYD Convention Welcome Party (Beacon:sacramento)

    • Come join our friends at CYD and SCYD as they celebrate all of the recently elected young democrats from across the state!

  • 9pm: Party Against the Patriarchy (Blue Prynt)

    • 2016 Fem Dems Legislator of the Year, Cristina Garcia and several other statewide organizations dedicated to electing more women into office will be hosting a Party against the Patriarchy!

  • 9pm: Healthcare 4 ALL Convention After-Party (Firestone Public House)

    • Are you a supporter for the #healthcare4all bill, SB 562 (Lara)? If so, come out and party with Senators Ricardo Lara and Toni Atkins at Firestone!

  • 9pm: NextGen Campaigns Convention Reception (Mayahuel)

    • Use this opportunity to learn more about the newest technologies NextGen Campaigns uses during a hosted reception during the 2017 California Democratic Party Convention in Sacramento! 

  • 9:30pm: A Taste of Sacramento (Elks Tower, 2nd Floor)

    • Commuities for California Cardrooms and the Democratic Party of Sacramento County welcome delegates to the California Democratic Party's state convention at, "A Taste of Sacramento" featuring Sacramento's DJ Pumatron.

SATURDAY

  • 8am: Women’s Caucus Coffee Mixer and Caucus Meeting (Convention Room 308)

    • The Women’s Caucus of the California Democratic Party will be electing new caucus officers and discussing plans for the next 2 years (and beyond). You do not need to be a delegate to attend!

  • 10:30am: Bagel Brunch (Capitol Garage)
    • Grab some bagels and mimosas with the CA Legislative Jewish Caucus, CA Latino Legislative Caucus, and American Israel Public Affairs Committee. Yum!

  • 3:30pm: CYD Progressive Caucus Kickoff Meeting (Convention Room 205)

    • The newest CYD caucus is in town and ready to get to business! You do not need to be a delegate to attend but must be 35 and younger.

  • 10pm: CYD #Resistance Street Party w/ Gavin Newsom and Common (12th St. between K & L Streets)

    • This will be one of the biggest parties of the year! You must have a CYD credential to join!

In addition to the events mentioned above, Fem Dems members will also be volunteering their time throughout the weekend to help get Fem Dems member and endorsed candidate, Jenny Bach, elected as the California Democratic Party Secretary!  We are still in need of more volunteers – training will be provided.
