Letter Writing Workshop

Letter Writing Workshop

Are you interested in engaging in the legislative process, but don’t know where to start?

The Fem Dems are holding a Letter Writing Workshop on Thursday, September 4th to give members the tools they need to effectively communicate with their elected officials.

During this hour-long workshop we will discuss the importance of corresponding with your elected officials; how to prepare a letter to an elected official; and then we will each take immediate action by writing a letter to the Governor on one of our priority bills.

This is an exciting opportunity for our members and we hope you can join us for this skill-building workshop!

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Communications Director Sarah Kerber or VP Erica Root

Time: Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 5:30pm - 6:30pm
Location: Temple Coffee Downtown (1010 9th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814)

ADVOCACY DAY ON CAPITOL HILL on June 26 so that key reproductive rights leaders can urge Congress to support the Women’s Health Protection Act, federal legislation that would prohibit states from passing laws that restrict women’s access to abortion services. Here’s how you can help:

  1. Contact your members of Congress and tell them why the Women’s Health Protection Act is so important.
  2. Take a selfie with an “I #ActForWomen” sign and post the photo on social media with the hashtag #ActForWomen, or email to info@femdems.org or action@reprorights.org. We’ll share it on Facebook and Twitter.
  3. Kick off Advocacy Day by signing up now for our Thunderclap — and join thousands of Twitter users to automatically announce on the morning of June 26 that you stand for women’s health.
  4. Share this image on Facebook and let the world know that women’s health matters to you.

Our 2013 WHM Brunch Honorees were chosen with this in mind and as always – an eye to inclusion, equality, and diversity.

We emphasized women of color, local Sacramento and California women, and chose some inspiring women who you may otherwise never have heard about.

We hope these women inspire you

Women Need to Realize Work Isn’t School

By Whitney Johnson and Tara Mohr
January 11, 2013

Indeed, a recent study found that women account for 51.4% of middle managers in the U.S. but only 4.2% of Fortune 500 CEO's. Based on our experience, the CEO statistics will continue to improve, but only incrementally, until women recognize that the boardroom is not the schoolroom. To be successful, we must now do the very thing we were always taught not to: be disruptive...

Women in the Workplace

By Armando Gomez
Post date unknown
